Cal Housing Commission Director

Serve as the chair for The ASUC Cal Housing Commission.

Report to the Senate weekly with updates from the city

Organize bi-monthly meetings of Cal Housing Commission

Design the annual student housing survey consistent with Title XVI of ASUC By-Laws and present the results and recommendations to the ASUC Senate – survey must be completed by November 15 (at the latest) and results compiled and ready to disseminate by December 15 (at the latest) to the Senate and student body

To act as a group within the ASUC to address the housing needs of students and to make executive decisions regarding the Berkeley Cribs Website.

Work with the Berkeley Cribs Director to compile issue briefs from data in the Berkeley Cribs Website into a report

Communicate and build a relationship with the City of Berkeley’s Housing Advisory Commission, Council members, and Housing and Community Services Department to address the unmet needs of students. – Work in conjunction with the Berkeley Rent Board and UC Housing Services to advocate for the rights of students

Attend all Berkeley Rent Board meetings and create Executive Summaries to present to the EAVP and Chief of Staff in order to mobilize and inform students about upcoming issues

Work with EAVP and Chief of Staff to recruit appointments to City Commissionerships

Coordinate Tenant’s Rights Week in Fall 2012 and Spring 2013
Berkeley Cribs Director

Charged with maintaining the functionality of the Berkeley Cribs Website and increasing it as needed to assist students in making fair and wise housing decisions.

The term of the Berkeley Cribs Director starts from the time of appointment until the start of the following fall semester.

Communicating with student organizations and campus partners about issues regarding student housing including tenant’s rights and affordable housing, and addressing these issues within the Berkeley Cribs Website.

Designing the Berkeley Cribs Website and assisting the Director of the Cal Housing Commission in marketing the Website and assisting the Director of the ASUC Cal Housing Commission in compiling information from the survey for his/her report.

Establishing a team of interns and web developers to support him/herself in completing these duties
- Report to the Senate monthly along with the Director of the ASUC Cal Housing Commission on his/her activities, and with suggested action items.
- This is a stipend position.
